This is a video of the beautiful caring souls of the Humane Society of the United States rescuing and educating people on what to do when a natural disaster strikes.
Many people through panic and fear for their own lives often forget in the craziness of trying to escape, that their pets cannot fend for themselves and need to be taken with them as well, and unfortunately and sadly many are often left behind.
Many shelters who take in people who have been left homeless as a result of a natural disaster often do not allow people's pets to be taken in as well; thus forcing people to make the tough choice of looking after themselves, or staying with their pets in dangerous and unhealthy situations.
So please prepare for natural disasters by having an emergency plan ready when a natural disaster strikes; and help by advocating for your local community or town to provide shelters for pets and to provide a safe haven for them when disaster strikes with adequate food love and veterinary care, so lost pets and their lost owners can be reunited and happy once again.
Pets aren't just animals; their members of the family, and you wouldn't leave your family members behind in an emergency would you?
So by believing in and performing the above actions you'll be making sure when Mother Nature hits, yourself and your pets will be ready and can do the things you love together once again without ever losing the one you love with all your heart and soul.

Thats heartbreaking. Choosing food and shelter over a family member? Thats like abandoning a child in a fire. They are helpless and scared creatures that want the same thing everyone else wants; reassurance and help. Im sure that most; if not, all people that had to leave their animal behind probably had no choice. Its sad, but it makes me all the more thankful that there is someone out there that cares. Thank you, Humane Society!

Some people don't realize that "pets" are more than just that, they are family, they are companions, best friends! My emergency plan is my buddy, and my truck. We will be homeless together before I would leave him alone. <3 Its not always the owners fault for leaving a loved pet behind, like they said most shelters wont take a pet, and if you stay behind and get trapped, most rescuers will take you but not your pet. Its sad.

I will not leave my horses or dogs come what may. I love them so much and I would die with them if I had nowhere to go and we were stuck. I refuse REFUSE to go to any shelter while my animals are by themselves scared and suffering NO FRIGGINGGG WAY.

Glad that they are campaigning for pet friendly shelters. We need more. I would like to be trained to help pets in a disaster.
