The is a short clip from the new documentary filmed for Haitian Street Kids, Inc. entitled Haitian Street Kids Revisited, 2009. It shows Wendell. A 16 year old blind street kid who was purchased as a restavek child slave at the age of 4 after being blinded by voodoo practitioners. Wendell is one of the many street children still on the streets that HSKI provides care and protection for. As support for HSKI and the home increases, more children like Wendell will enter the home where they will receive education, medical care, protection and a chance to regain their self-dignity and childhoods.

they are slaves no matter what u want to call them

  • Why do people delight in referring to the restaveks as slaves is it to negate the accomplioshments of the Hatian revolution. Surely abuses take place and the restaveks do suffer however such abuse is by no means universal and it is I think inaccurate to refer to it as slavery!

  • wow...and to think that the only thing they do for him is film this..
