Lockout Update from Occupy London Media and The Indignants. On Jan 21st the OFL Ontario Federation of Labour called for a day of action in London. Up to 15 000 union and activists got together in Victoria Park, then moved to the lockout at the Caterpillar plant (EMD). This is a interview with Patti Dalton of the London and district labour council and Len Elliot of local 67.
@MrDubDisciple I am an old man but I have seen with my own eyes Westinghouse, Blue Belle and Hersheys close because the unions would not even talk about a reduction in labour costs. We can't blame the corporations, they are in business to make money, not employ people. I just can't believe that people don't see the problem when these unions grab benefit after benefit from the employer until they reach the breaking point. The public sector unions worry me they are greedy.
@MrDubDisciple The world has gone global and there is nothing we or our government can do about it. Your union just priced you out of the world market because of their and your greed. There is no way unskilled labour is worth the wages these workers were getting, the union has killed just about all manufacturing in Canada and with the government unions hard at work, they will kill the country next. Are they and you blind to the truth?
Heros all of them. Canadians are finally defrosting, our minds are thinking about things like civil liberties and economics for the first time in possibly our entire history as a people.
We need to mobilize the Canadian people to protect the future of this nation.

@justanoldman1 I refuse to engage in a race to the bottom but I do agree with you about unions becoming too big.
