Updated with a Groot Indusries sign, this is a Leach Rear Loader picking up the recyclables. These were used by the old collector Mundelein Jensen Disposal, and as of now aren't even used by Groot much. The truck was probably purchased in the 90's.

  • How long ago did Groot buy Mundelin-Jensen? Also, do you know how they collect the carts in Mundelin, IL? I saw a bunch of Groot ones and old MJ ones there.

  • @mcbombtings I believe they were bought out about 3 years ago, and if Groot has the routes in Mundelein then I think they use a combination of automated front loaders, side loaders, and rear loaders, from what I have seen in Groot's other areas of service, most of their carts are the same everywhere, 95 gl trash, and 65 gl recycling, but some places still have 18 gl bins instead of carts so from time to time I will see a rear loader collecting. How long ago did you see a MJ truck?

  • @GrootGuy I didn't see an MJ truck...just lots of their carts around Mundelin...Rehrigs, Toters, and Ameri-Karts. I noticed a lot of tipper marks on the carts, even the new Groot ones, so I was wondering what type of collection they had. Looked like they had both trash and recycle carts.

  • @mcbombtings Oh okay, I see what you mean, it's probably a fleet of front loaders with Perkins carry cans then, next to the curotto can 2 that's probably the second biggest thing they use for both garbage and recycling

  • I love PTO whining sound!

  • This truck looks like a Leach Beta, I ran one for wastemanagement about 20 years ago.

  • I am glad these trucks aren't used anymore. When the rain was pouring down, these trucks fill with with lots of water in the back. I recall following at a distance in Mundelein behind one of these trucks and the disgusting water went pouring out of the side of the back of the truck when the truck turned a corner. What a gross smell too. Thanks for upgrading to the closed container trucks. No more disgusting smell!

  • I hear its like Fort Knox, to get a job with the company!!

  • I believe we finally got rid of this truck.

  • @GrootGuy Yeah it was hard to tell because I definitely saw tipper marks, especially on the MJ carts...and some might have had Curotto marks.
