Really, why? Ed Harris didn't destroy careers the way this opportunist asshole did.

I lost respect for Scorcese and DeNiro after this Oscar...Kazan was a whistleblowing motherfucker who killed the careers of many actors, writers, producers and every other category in the movie business...NEVER deserved this Oscar..I personally hope this Oscar was made in over production...and had to give it to someone.

Elia Kazan did some magnificent films in his career , which are among my most favourite , but after what happened with the HUAC in 1952 , after he named those eight communists , he lost lots of friendships and respects. So I love his films , but i do not like him as a person.

Was that De Niro's haircut for the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie?

Because of his involvement in the Hollywood blacklist, dozens of actors, directors and screenwriters were denied work in the US and were given no choice but to depart for Europe. It did upset a lot of people.

Some people protested his win because of his involvement during the Hollywood blacklisting in the 1940s and 1950s. That's pretty much my knowledge of it.

First, I apologize for my lack of knowledge but can someone explain to me why was he not given a FULL standing ovation? I saw many people not standing, in fact, not even clapping (i.e.: Ed Harris, Nick Nolte, etc) What is/are the reason(s) behind this?

To all of you playing the "morally superior" card, you or I have no idea how we would have responded in the McCarthy era. So its best to err on the side of forgiveness.
