  • I think it's pretty shameful that half the audience couldn't even clap while sitting. There were several actors/directors etc that were part of the HUAC. Guys like Gary Cooper, James Stewart and John Wayne were. Most of these detractors were too young or not even alive during that time to give an opinion. Must be something to be able to sit on a high horse. This was for his work and not his personal life. Kazan was a human. Like Nolte and Harris never did anything wrong.

  • I had always assumed that, due to the enormous controversy surrounding Kazan as a result of the HUAC incident, that he had been guilty of some major breach of honor. But then I read up on it today and found out that the names he supplied were already public knowledge...again, the names were already known by the committee! However reprehensible the committee's actions were in hindsight, Kazan was under oath and he stated the truth, nothing more. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

  • @EddieEstes And yet you don't realize you're doing the same kind of stupid mistake of those "libs". There should always be a distinction between a man's private life and his work, right?. Why should we only apply this rule to Kazan then? Hasn't Polanski made some classics too (for about 50 years)? I would've given a standing ovation to both men. Them being denouncers or rapists or not. It just doesn't matter.

  • Yeah whatever, Fuck that sell out.

  • @yapamas21

what you would know? You werent around in his time you have no right to judge , people like you sicken me

  • @EddieEstes He didn't turn any commies in, they already had all the names he named. Just turn your computer off.

  • @klrdotorg Who cares is Beatty forgave him?! He needs forgiveness from those whose names he mentioned during HUAC to save his own skin!!
