Robot Wars 1997 - Blendo Leaving Ceremony

4th annual Robot Wars

Blendo is asked to leave the competition due to it being too dangerous for the arena. Blendo is given Heavyweight face-off and Heavyweight melee co-championship, as well as the Best Engineering award. Show are Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage, and other members of M5 Industries.

belndo was perfect, because he was so low you couldnt flip him, and his blade was on all sides so he had no weaknesses. was he ever beaten in a fight?

Blendo was never beaten in the two years it competed at Robot Wars, but did lose when it competed in Battlebots.

Nope, it was in fact the 1997 event. Keep in mind however, that Blendo was ALSO disqualified from the 1995 Robot Wars for being too dangerous as well. I might have that video segment as well, I'll have to look for it. In 1995 Blendo beat Namreko 2000 and DoMore before getting disqualified and in 1997 it beat Hercules and Punjar.

Only Jamie and Adam would come up with something that is considered too dangerous and disqualified. The Mythbusters rock! :)

haha, They built a robot so good, it was too good to compete with anymore.

After all, think of the other robot builders.. Where's the fun in building a bot, spending so much on it, and always losing to this little spinning thing, which you can barely lay a blow on at all.

Spinning robots were a cool innovation in these competitions, but they always had an unfair advantage, to a degree. I always used to think there should have been maybe a separate league for spinning bots.

Or better flippers.

They were disqualified because the people at Robot Wars didn't like them winning all the time. That's my guess.
