1/30/2010 was nothing short of epic! A much awaited and expected Q410-28 with a pair of FEC GP40-2's bound for NECR showed up, plus more! We start off at Woodbourne, Pennsylvania. Be happy, I braved single digit wind chills to get these!

First is CSX Q190-30 heading down the Wood Connecting Track and onto the Trenton Line with a pair of CSX ES40DC's for power.

NS 14G heads east on the Morrisville Line and into Morrisville Yard with light power. Apparently they set out their whole train at Abrams Yard.

Next, CSX K491-30 Empty Ethanol heads south on the Trenton Line with A CW40-8/SD70AC pair. Today, there was actually a spacer on the back, in the form of a SOO Line hopper car!

Now for the train of the day. After letting K491-30 pass, CSX Q410-28 heads east on the Trenton Line with a ES44AC/SD40-2/SD70AC lash-up, plus the pair of FEC GP40-2's and 118 cars. Notice the Epic trash containers six cars back, they were picked up by Q410 because of Q706's reduction to three days a week.

The second train of the day caught me off guard, hence the freehand video, but it's better than other freehand that I see. Anyway, CSX Q702-30 roars east through Woodbourne with a rare AC60CW out of storage in the lead with a standard car Dash 8 trailing. Man did I miss the roar of a 6000 HP AC motor chugging up to this point.

Now on to Delmorr Ave in Morrisville, Pennsylvania to get some NEC action over the Delaware River. Train info is in the video itself. Thanks for watching.

  • nice catch of the FEC locos.

    i miss those two!

  • @doug33020 Thanks, and I know, they are way out of turf!

  • I love the 1st shot.

  • Thanks.

  • some ES44ACs on UP have K3LAs

  • It's because K5HL horns keep breaking, so they grab what they can get.

  • I knew the AC6000 units would run on business again!

  • Why the darned "Third Generation" K5LA on the Super 60!? These units have slowly been returning to service, and CSX has been retrofitting them with these awful horns for no apparent reason. One of my top reasons for liking the AC60's as my favorite units, was because of their beautiful K5LAR24's, but now CSX is ruining them by putting these POS horns on them!! They can also take their AC60 re-engine project and shove it!! Just my two cents. Nice video!

  • @trainutjob K3LA sounds much better than an out-of-tune K5HL-trust me on this one.

  • Crap, I'll look at it.

  • Already done! Check out CSX 604 in my latest video from Western PA / Pittsburgh. It has a K5HLL....Ugghh....

  • Thanks Richard, I'll take those horns, I've heard worse (Leslie RS2M), but the old K5LAR24 horns were pro, just wait until they start sticking K5HLL horns on them.
