71 XS were gold and white with front drum brake. Disc brake were introduced in 72 and they were red/marron and white with electric starter. If you're friend have a blue one, it's a 73 TX650.

I had a 71 XS 650 and I think they made it a year or two before 71. Mine was maroon with a front disk brake. I had a friend that had a blue 72. They are very cool bikes. They sound like a triumph, but are more dependable

I agree, very cool bike...but....keep it old school and kick it!...I took the electric start off my 82 wideglide when I put a 3" open primary on it, Im 100% old school kicking now.

Yeah, I'm all for the old school kick start. But we built this bike to sell and we kept the electric start so if someone would prefer to have it they would not have to hook it all up. Thanks for the compliments everyone!
