Here is a final scene and closing credits from the television show, Combat! In this episode titled, 'Heritage,' a sensitive explosives expert (Charles Bronson) faces a crisis of conscience when assigned to blow up an enemy stronghold containing several priceless and irreplaceable works of art. Series ran from 1962-67 on the ABC Television network and centered on the lives of the men from King Company. For 5 1/2 years the men faced the enemy starting with the landing on Omaha Beach-D Day June 6, 1944. You see how they evolved from a squad of men to a family. Drama, action and suspense were part of the show. If you enjoyed this show as a kid - or - if you want to experience some serious television that would compare, if not surpass anything that's on today, Combat! is well worth your time.

  • What's the point of this episode? That being a sucide bomber can be a good thing?

  • Not a suicide bomber... He was a demolitions expert in the Army doing his job and gave his life to save the lives of thousands of others who otherwise would've been killed had he not blown the hillside. His love for the ancient works of art contained inside was a struggle for him, but his duty as a US Army soldier to protect the lives of his comrades prevailed.

  • many times in this series you would see a solider sacrifice themselves to save thier comrades I rember Chet Atkins in one episode ramming a truck into a German Half-track inorder for a supply column to get through to the front lines , the message was of course not everybody lives in the end and sometimes heroic action involves sacrifice, to save others, a very true theme and a lesson that needs even today to be taught. War stinks,

    suicide bomber? no comparison

  • Couldn't have been better said. This is why this series is timeless in many ways. Wars may change but the people and the battles within are the same. Thank you! btw - You're referring to Claude Akins in "Nightmare on the Red Ball Run". Great episode!

  • Unfortunately, the ABC Television Network credit was removed on many of the 'Combat!' closing credits when the show was re-released in syndication several years ago, though many episodes still have it, this one did not. I hope to post the original version when I get the kinks out of my system. Will also correct the low audio level. As those in the business say, "We are experiencing technical difficulties... Please stand by." Thanks!

  • @comic156e Yeah, I remember it well, it was one of my favorite shows. I never missed the Gallant Men or Combat.

  • I like the episode called "breakout

  • @000266617 watch the episode

  • You do your duty as an American Soldier. Hanley saw his act and Kirby can verify. The G.I. would be awarded the Distingushed Service Cross and Silver Star, posthumously.

  • @000266617 The point of this episod was that Charles Bronson was fucking great!

  • This is when tv had real character, not this make believe shit they watch today, in real life many many good men died for their buddies, Honor and Integrity were often shown and sacrifice. Great shows back then and they will be timeless!

  • The beauty of this series was that Terrible things happened to good people, and the enemy was there to kill you. period. Don't get too upset, or you won't make it home. You can almost get PTSD from watching this. My WW2 relatives all said that this was the only series that had any credibility in telling the story of the Infantry soldier. "The Gallant Men" was too Hollywood. Infantry work is tough, exhausting, disgusting, and lethal..

  • Read Rick Jason's autobiography, available online. Very entertaining. If he'd played his cards differently, he'd have been an iconic movie actor, he had so much going for him. Of course the best film he ever made was Orson Welles' miraculous "Fountain of Youth," a half-hour pilot for an anthology series that didn't sell but won a Peabody. Jason had one of the greatest voices ever, by the way. I much prefer watching him to Vic Morrow, although Morrow was great until he was decapitated.

  • You'll never see a show like this again. Enjoy it when you can! Anybody remember, "The Gallent Men?"

  • BACANAZO...LO MEJOR K VI EN MI VIDA DE NIÑO....K PENA AHORA SOLO DAN PURAS SANDECES : (
