Natalie sat in the doctors office waiting for them to call her back. "WHY do I have to be here by myself again?" She asked her self. Every time she had to come she would get out in the parking lot, walk in sign here self in, and take a seat. She came in this time because her sugar had been staying pretty low. "Nick, come on do you wanna go on tonight or not?" A guy's voice asked. "Kevin, you know I do not like this place." Another guy's voice said. "Neither do I...I'll stay out side!" Another one's said. "Joe, you're staying right here!" The first one's said. Natalie looked up, knowing she had tear stained eyes to she three dark headed boys coming in to the office. "Name?" The secretary asked without bothering to look up. "Jonas, Nicholas." The second one said. "Hello Nicholas, please take a seat." She said typing something in her computer. Nick turned around, and Natalie looked down. Nick saw her tears before she could look down, and decided to go talk to her. "Hi. I'm Nick, can I sit here?" He asked motioning toward the seat beside her. Natalie nodded knowing if she spoke her voice would crack. "So, you look pretty bummed out. What's up?" He asked. Natalie thought and said. "Um...It's not something worth crying about, I'm just kinda upset." She said brushing a tear away. "Well, I'd really like to know." He said after sending Joe and Kevin off. "Uh...okay...Well I was diagnosed with diabetes last year, and my mom kinda started to act ashamed of me. She never comes in here, she makes me get my meds, and you know, She yells when I get really tired, or I get moody. See nothing right?" Natalie said crying again. "No, that's something worth being this upset over. I would die if my family wasn't there for me." He said looking at the ground. "Yea...I'm making it through though..." She said. "Hey, when is you mom picking you up?" He asked. "She's not, I'm walking home." Natalie said again hiding tears. "Well after you're done here, why don't you grab some lunch with us?" Nick offered tucking Nat's hair being one ear. "Um...Okay, I mean my mom's going to Germany, so I'm fending for myself for who knows how long." Nat said regretting she's just said that. Nick looked alarmed. "Kevin! Get over here!" He called. "Yea?" Kevin asked. "We're taking her to lunch, ok?" He asked. Natalie gulped. She prayed 'God, please, please, please don't let me slip!'
"Thank you." Natalie said getting out of the limo. "Anytime, her can I have your number?" Nick asked. "Uh...yea..." She said, and took his cell and punched in her number. "Thanks. I'll call you later." He said and walked Natalie to her door. Nick saw the tears of Natalie's face. "Are you okay Nat?" He asked. "Uh...yea...I'm..I'm fine..." She lied. "No you're not." He said. "Well...My mom's not in Germany...She's at the bar...and when she comes back she's gonna hit me again, and again, and again." Natalie admitted with alot of tears. Nick looked at Natalie wide-eyed, and hugged her. "Let's go." He said taking her back to the limo. Natalie couldn't refuse. She felt so safe with Nick's arm around her. "Hi. What's up?" Kevin asked as both Nick and Natalie got back in the limo. Nick looked at his brother and mouthed 'later' as he held Natalie.
While Natalie was sleeping in Nick's room, Nick, Kevin, and Mrs. Jonas sat at the dining room table deciding what to do with Natalie. Nick explained as much as he knew about Natalie's mom, and Natalie. "Oh, that poor girl..." Mrs. Jonas said. "I know Mom, she's too nice, and polite, and sweet to have to live like that! I'm not letting her go back to her mom!" Nick declared. "Neither am I Nicholas." She said. "For now we'll just let her stay here, until we can find something else." She said and left Kevin, and Nick to talk. "Kevin, I like her. I don't want her to have to go. Espcailly not back to her mom..." Nick said. "She's awesome, I know but still..." Kevin said...
