  • Nice video. I have a question: when I perform the 1:45 & 2:08 step, I always melt the plastic before the solder start to melt and destroy the connector. What do I do wrong? I use a 60w iron and 60% tin solder.

    Thanks!

  • @rovingstar365

First of all try a lower wattage soldering iron; let's say 20 or 30W max. Next and I guess this should be the reason behind the connectors getting melted down, you must be using the fake XT60. If those are labeled TGY then you have no luck!

  • can you heat shrink without a torch using wither the iron itself, or a lighter or somthing?

  • @nitroburn289g

Any source of heat would be fine: a hair dryer, a lighter...

Make sure the flame stays arround 2 inches away, otherwise you'll burn the tube.

  • Thanks for this video :)

  • Can you use a heat-gun if you don't have a blow-torch?

  • Great video but.............. Its not good practice to stick a cold wire into hot solder. When you heated the xt connector and then stuck the cold wire into the molten solder it will not create a good bond. The soldering iron should have been held on both items to get them both molten during the connection.

  • @shoegooguru I had the same problem, but you don't need to heat the connectors too hot just heat it for 5 sec then melt the solder wire in there. Also using thin solder wire used for circuit boards melts really easily compared to those thick wires which needs more heat. I melted my first XT60 too, but learned from the mistake.

  • I got xt60 connectors from HobbyKing and the damn plastic melts before the connector gets hot enough to accept wire!!! I heard that there are fakes that are NOT nylon and I guess that is what HK is selling. I'm pissed!

  • @nitroburn289g I usually use the back bit of my iron just for simplicity's sake. A little ways behind the tip behind the tip is just hot enough to shrink the wire and not burn it usually. (unless I have it turned up high)

  • My solder set before i can put it in LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE LOOK HERE
