The amount of rust developing on my car is getting bad. I've created this video to share with other people to ask for help: How can I stop the progression of this rust? Keep in mind I am a college student and have VERY little money to spend on rust removal.

I do however have a nice Dremel with a lot of rotary cutting bits if I need to make precision cuts. I also have 3 rolls of duct tape, and I am sure duct tape can fix nearly anything. One last thing I have is a jar of naval jelly - a very acidic jelly that dissolves rust.
Help me Internet! What do I do?

  • For Sale: 92 Civic, salty winters caused minor cosmetic amounts of rust. Car still good daily driver and would be a great first car. Reason for selling :got new car

Real story: 92 civic forgotten about during high tide, had to be towed out, motor running ok every speed bump leaves many pieces behind. the sketchy azz car is the reason for sale lol

  • @jpopsbronco Closer to the truth than you think!

  • holey crap, you get that thing up to 70 and the body may fly off.

  • @termite289 I did over 95 on the way home from a trip. Downhill.

  • The car still lives (and so do I)! Another video will be made on the birthday of the first - February 22, 2011. How bad can it be a year later??

  • @CaptainTrips00 I sold the car and bought a nice shiny blue WRX. So there won't me a birthday video after all.

  • cut out about 1/2 and inch past all the rust and the try to get some automotive primer/sealer (duplicolor works great) then sray the metal with the primer and that should stop rust. make sure the surface is clean (bare metal).

  • To be honest, you might as well just drive it as is. With that amount of rust, everything's gonna come back even if you try to fix it. I have a civic with a little bit of honda cancer, but I took my chance and cut all the rust our with a dremmel and fiberglass wait to dry and reshape it with body filler.

Another option is that if your motor is still healthy go to craigslist and find a civic shell that is much cleaner and drop it there. I have a video of my project it might help.

    Goodluck!

  • That will buff right out

  • free tetnus shot comes with the car right?

  • Do you live in Atlantis, city under the sea? :D
