This is a quick shot of Tygo learning his name. The exercise is simple enough but the uses of the outcome abound.

This is the first exercise I did with all three cats. They don't actually have to do anything; it's an associative exercise. I say the cat's name and immediately give him a piece of food. Soon he learns to pay attention when he hears his name. This can also serve as an excellent warm up exercise before working on more difficult tasks.

Notes: The type of training I am doing can also be done with a clicker. However, I have opted not to use a clicker for a number of reasons: 1.) I don't own a clicker 2.) The sound annoys me 3.) I use my voice instead and feel it is just as effective, if not more.

You may also notice that the other cats try to get in on the action. Normally, I work the cats individually, but sometimes it is beneficial to work them together so that each cat will begin to distinguish their own name from the other cats' names.

  • how big do bengal/tabbies get?does it go in water? plz comment

  • My 2 boys are about the size of your average house cat. My girl, Chewy, is dainty and very petite.

Chewy likes water. She used to go to the river and would swim across with me. I once took her inter tubing but she didn't like it. She got scared.

The boys are not as familiar with water. I took them to the river when they were babies, but they were too young really and we didn't go in the water. They don't get freaked out too much about baths though.

  • ok, cause I donno if my cats are bengals , because they are around the sizes you said, the boy is average, and the girl is small...they have all the marks like your cats but, vet said it's impossible to tell

  • Well, mine are actually not pure Bengals. The girl is 1/2 and the two boys are 3/4. Pure Bengals would be less striped and more spotted.

  • ok, ive been told if they are not even half, but they are also more marbled than striped

  • I think, like your vet said, it's probably impossible to really tell. I would just enjoy them to the fullest and love 'em up!
