Run-through of all individual exercises (after the Long Down) in obedience class 2.

1) Fri ved fot - Heeling off-leash
2) Dekk under marsj - Moving down
3) Innkalling m/stå - Stand on recall
4) Stå under marsj - Moving stand
5) Apportering - Retrieve on flat
6) Hopp m/sitt - High jump with sit
7) Kjegla - Go-out to cone
8) Avstandskontroll - Position changes

This was after no serious training for three days and no training at all the same day except for a very brief (1 min) warm-up. My intent was to see how she did with the continuous set of exercises "cold" (unprepared). I did reinforce her twice, as working endurance is not the main point here.

I'm generally pleased. She levitated halfway up from one Down, which would probably have busted the exercise. Then again, I don't ever plan to show her on frozen grass; our next show is indoors. As for me, I could do with losing a few extra cues...

  • Hi-

I was pleasantly surprised to see a German Pinscher work with so much enthusiasm. Very pretty heeling and I loved the stand from the recall(never seen that done before!, also I thought the retrieve was nicely done. Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you!

  • Since I have no sound, I also watched your body a lot, and you are doing quite a bit of moving when you're giving your cues. Try to think about that as well.

You look great and these comments are really nothing most judges would call you for. Good luck!

  • Thanks Fanny, I really appreciate your feedback! :o)

  • I never tire of watching you two progress. How old is the dog and how long have you been training him?

That really is some great heel-work.

  • Thanks! She's nearly eight years old now, so we can't exactly claim lightening-quick progression *grin*. I've had her from puppyhood, however our "serious" training has been disrupted partly by my health issues and also for a time by her dog-dog issues. I had to fix that before I could safely enter her in a show.

  • I remember when i saw your video for the first time, it was three years ago and I totally loved it. (And I stil love it.) I couldn´t understad how dog can learn this. But now we, I and my dog, are on good way, I think. And I hope that we will be as good as you one day. :)

  • looking good! both you and kaisa seems to have a lot of fun!

  • Fantastic! Very inspiring!

  • It's really encouraging to see a german pinscher train like that...! My Hera is 6 months now and I hope one day she'll obey like Kaisa..!

  • ...Move more calmly during the heelwork, make your turns a bit slower. Wait longer before you give commands (I believe it's 3-5 seconds you should wait during the signals excercise, but I could only count to two watching you). I notice this because I have the same problem, and I need to think about it all the time...

  • Hi Åse! This really looks great! You should be out trialing - asap! I could not have done this any better. A few things for you to think about though: Try to be a little slower in the ring. This is an issue where I have to remind myself all of the time, since I'm to fast and also to obedient in the ring... I have no sound on my computer, so I'm not sure if you had someone directing you in the ring, but even if you did, you can be slower...
