Czech police chasing suspect of murder and attempted murder

The Czech Police arrests Marek Smejkal (19), who has murdered an 81-year old woman on July 30, 2009. Nearly two weeks after the murder he stabbed his ex-girlfriend into stomach. He tried to flee the scene in her car, but the police made sure he won't get far. After threatening the SWAT members with a knife, he tried to cut his own throat, inflicting on himself a few minor cuts.

The girl (21) survived the stabbing only thanks to rapid medical help and helicopter transport to hospital.

The Court has sentenced the young murderer to 18 years in maximum security prison (23/3/2010).
