The town where this was filmed was Archer City, TX (just south of Wichita Falls) where I was stationed with the USAF in the late 70s. The fellow who played Brother Blanton (Robert Arnold) was an actor friend of mine who also worked at the PAO office at the Air Base.

Black and White was out of favor by the time this film was made, (1971). Bogdanovich filmed it that way to "age it" and make it look like 1951. Now it's more than twice a long a time after the film was made as the period they were going back to and it looks all the more like a film made in 1951, (save for the naked scenes).
