I'll go out on a limb and say this was the best four-way match ever. A sign of a really good match is when the unlikely guy gets a chance to steal the show, like Vader did. Only downside was Austin's irrelevance except to intefere after elimination. But otherwise, awesome work by all the dudes.

Man, people wanted 'Taker to get that title bad that evening. Lot of people called for 'Taker to get that title that year. Calls and everything to the wwf headquarters. Great year for sure

Damn, i remember this ppv which it was my first :). I was screaming like a motherfucker when taker got Bret Hart in the chokeslam and the arena went apeshit. Good times.

@niravmaurya I remember watching this when I was 9 years old. I lived for Bret back then. To see him with the WWF titile brought me uncontrollable joy. Now looking back as an adult I have JUST as much respect for him as I did when I was 9 years old. That'a the measure of Bret Hart's greatness. He took what he did so seriously and respected it so much that it became all real to himself and his fans. He's easily the greatest pro wrestler of all time.

The fans' definition of 'main event' can vary. It wasn't always necessary to hold the title or wrestle in the last match of a show in order to headline an event. The best example is WrestleMania -- 'Taker practically encompasses the show, like he did this year, whereas the title matches were sideshows. Some performers are above and beyond championships, like 'Taker, whose title you could say is the streak.
