Would have been nice to have had microlight spinner with 6lb test for that one. Shark fishing at it's worst. I started buying large whole mullet for bait for that particular reason. Cats will still pick away at them though. God made catfish to annoy fisherman. At least you can eat the gaffs and they actually taste really good.

@mikesluggo its not poisonous it just hurts and can get infected easier than a rusty nail because of fishes protective layer of skin.

Oh man I do not like to see bare feet near catfish...I try to hold the fish farther away so if I drop it for some reason (fish flops or falls off hook) I don't get a poisonous barbed spine in my foot. Also for anyone reading this never kick a catfish even with shoes because the spine can and will go through a shoe I've seen it happen. I know that's probably the last thing people think about on spring break lol.
