@ThoughtGazeCarlos I think the point Dawkins was making was that while there are mechanisms for various things and their functions ("how"), that doesn't mean there is a purpose, design or intent ("why"), no agent working towards a goal with those mechanisms. And he used a study as an example of how easily humans tend to think in terms of design, even when none of evident. So his point is this: Just because you think you detect design, doesn't mean it's actually there.
