It's such a complex song, with suggestions of heroin dependency, illicit sex, menace, self-loathing, and profound loss, that to see this odd matronly woman singing it is unintentionally cringe-inducing. I suspect Lou is getting a real kick out of the whole thing.

PS. Check the video of her performing this song on the Today Show with a children's choir, no less. Sheer horror.
