@gr01000101g actually, the point and all its music was inspired when Nilsson was on an acid trip looking at all the houses around him and seeing that everything had a point.

This song is so beautiful and this is an excellent version. I love "The Point!" so much. The lyrics, the arrangements, and the vocal style just seem so innocent and pure. Seems like it was made more for psychedelic adventurers than children, but I suppose all types of folk could enjoy this wondrous stuff.

My favourite film is Midnight Cowboy. Years ago we watched it & after the presenter said "Don’t switch over you are in for a treat, a BBC broadcast of Harry Nilsson performing his songs on the piano". He sang Life Line, one of my favourite songs. It’s like he’s drowning. I remember watching thinking I’m right there I’m drowning with you. That was the most affecting thing I’ve ever seen musically.
