This is a movie about my attempt to build a square foot garden. I've never built one before, but armed with the book "All New Square Foot Gardening", I gave it a try. The video is in two parts, a total of about 12

  • Great video & great looking beds. Question: are you concerned about the wood rotting on the inside?

  • @MrPaintballer209 they're only 4' x 4' they don't need corner posts

  • He clearly not "handy. he neglected to have a corner post and just drilled 4 boards together

  • Wow that's alot of square foot gardening

  • man those beds look sweet!!! good luck! i wanted to do the mels mix but couldnt find vermiculite in large bulk. an 8qt bag at lowes was like $6. i have 3- 4x6 beds. so no way!!

  • After doing some raised beds years ago, I found out if you don't dig out the grass or use a sod cutter, then put plastic edgers around your beds, the grass gets in like a virus and just takes over.

  • Looks great, nice work and good boxes !!

And you spent a few hundread dollars on that (too much...), but anyway you will save by having some fresh home made food !!!

And you WIll know where it comes from !!! 4 stars for you !!

  • I rated five stars but you should have layed newspaper down before putting in the compost/dirt it is biodegradeabel and keeps out weeds

  • Don't use card board, I did, big mistake. I used landscape fabric on a couple of boxes and it worked great. I'll be digging up my older beds to put down fabric this weekend. Your garden looks nice btw.

  • @TnWormsCastings

Yes, it came through around the edges. I'm not sure that this is entirely preventable. Even on a few more beds where I used newspaper, the grass seems to be able to grow up inside against the boards.
