Recap by Shum

DAC were able to achieve in their final game what they could not in their first; A victory.

Since joining Runcorn's Wednesday league in February 2005, DAC have competed in 13 seasons (3 Wednesday, 10 Sunday) and ~250 games, before finally deciding earlier last week to take the following season off to pursue a different sport.

Looking back, DAC have truly grown a lot since the beginning, from struggling to win a single game in its first season to achieving a Division 2 championship in March 2008. And it looks like it may not be the end, just yet.

In DAC's final regular season game, they once again had to come from behind to take victory against an improved Benchwarmers team and avenge a 1-point loss to them earlier this season.

The game was evenly matched throughout the 1st half with DAC scoring most of its points via fastbreaks or from inside penetration by leading scorer Ballet. DAC were unable to pull away, however, as Benchwarmer's own inside game worked a treat, coupled with several touch fouls giving them an early advantage from free throws.

DAC settled down in the 2nd half and did not give up a foul in the first 10 minutes, but it made no difference as the opposing team began to rain down threes from all over the court. The remainder of the 2nd half involved high quality basketball on both ends, with both teams choosing high percentage shots over long range 3s.

With 2 minutes left, DAC held a narrow lead at 52-50. Benchwarmers star forward #9 drew a highly questionable blocking foul and Ballet made both free throws, followed by 2 scoop-shot layups to score 6 straight points. #9 was fouled twice but only made 1 of 4 from the line, and Benchwarmers had to foul to stop the clock. Shum and Law fared better, hitting 3-4 together to preserve the lead for DAC and avenging a 1-point loss in May, courtesy of Shum's timeout error.
