BASED ON A TRUE STORY
Stranded in a remote Iranian village, a French journalist is approached by Zahra, a woman who has a harrowing tale to tell about her niece, Soraya, and the bloody circumstances of her death the day before...

As the journalist turns on his tape recorder, Zahra takes us back to the beginning of her story which involves Soraya's husband, the local phony mullah, and a town all too easily led down a path of deceit, coercion, and hysteria. The women, stripped of all rights and without recourse, nobly confront the overwhelming desires of corrupt men who use and abuse their authority to condemn Soraya, an innocent but inconvenient wife, to an unjust and torturous death.

A shocking and true drama, it exposes the dark power of mob rule, uncivil law, and the utter lack of human rights for women. The last and only hope for some measure of justice lies in the hands of the journalist who must escape with the story -- and his life -- so the world will know.

@florence123cry: Well that's impossible. Everyone speaks with an accent including you. If you want the actors in the movies you watch to all have a single generic accent that doesn't confuse you perhaps you should stick with the feel good movie of the week on you local TV station.

i m 30 years old. i live in turkey and yes, i am muslim (elhamdurillah). when i watched this movie, i cried and cried and cried. i never have ever cried since i was 10 years old. up to this movie. i broken my heart deeply. "Allah is greatest". for now i think i m going to cry.

i'm muslim and know that coran said. a woman can't be punished with the testimony of just one person or two. It must be proven guilty by more than three person. anyway, stoning also didn't always meant to kill and the kind of punishment is just a thing from the past. burning people with chemical weapons or making them dies slowly using nuclear ammo is more horrible than anything else.

Im a muslim and this movie brought tears to my eyes. my family and i are completely against stoning .. it is so morally wrong. These people are fucking crazy! How could they do this :'(

Another film to increase islamophobia, mmm they should make a marathon with the passion of christ so the audience can be as they say "moved" but I think moved to hate what the producers want them to hate. What are the motives behind it? proving stoning is bad? I think everyone disaproves that action. And if they would want to make a point it should be runned in taliban cinemas lol.
