Stranded in a remote Iranian village, a French journalist is approached by Zahra, a woman who has a harrowing tale to tell about her niece, Soraya, and the bloody circumstances of her death the day before...

As the journalist turns on his tape recorder, Zahra takes us back to the beginning of her story which involves Soraya's husband, the local phony mullah, and a town all too easily led down a path of deceit, coercion, and hysteria. The women, stripped of all rights and without recourse, nobly confront the overwhelming desires of corrupt men who use and abuse their authority to condemn Soraya, an innocent but inconvenient wife, to an unjust and torturous death.

A shocking and true drama, it exposes the dark power of mob rule, uncivil law, and the utter lack of human rights for women. The last and only hope for some measure of justice lies in the hands of the journalist who must escape with the story -- and his life -- so the world will know.

Believing in the same faith does not make everyone a same race.

So where does Jesus come from? Jerusalem/Israel? That's Middle East and Middle East people are mostly Arabs. So if you are born from a Caucasian parentage but believe in Jesus, shouldn't that make you an Arab, too? Because Jesus is DEFINITELY not from the WESTERN country.

@soshiok55: First of all I'm not Christian. Second, this video does not condemn all Muslims. Third, I never said believing in the same faith makes everyone of the same race. Fourth, not all people from the Middle East are Arabs. It seems you make a lot of false presumptions and then get upset about them. What I said was that you blamed the Arabs for acts like stoning and yet you follow an Arab prophet. My point is that it's a sleazy thing to say that you're good Muslim because you're not Arab.

Sorry, i am an asian muslim. We dont do stoning. Dont judge one culture and use it to criticize the whole religion and everyone who believes the religion.

It's the Arab culture of doing so. From my country, women do not enslave themselves to men. We marry the one we love, respect one another. Not like what you see the Arabs do.

This movie is about a stoning that took place in Iran and they're not Arabs either. Most Arab countries are in Asia making the people that live there Asian. And most importantly Mohammad, you know the prophet of the good Asian Muslims like you, was an Arab. Bottom line there are good and bad people everywhere, in all countries and of all faiths.

The law of stoning is only mentioned in the Torah not in Quran. In Quran the punishment for adultery is 100 lashes in public (Sura Noor). The clerics in Iran are acting based on the law of Torah not of Quran.

Its not about the religion itself. Its about MEN who use the religion as an excuse to do the bad things without being punished. Like in the movie the character ´Ali´ choses this way of getting rid of his wife cuz its the easiest way.

There are other good characters in the movie like ´Zahra´ ´Soraya´ herself were also Moslim. Its about the non educated villagepeople USING a religion to believe they do the right thing.
