A well-read person will read less than 1,000 books before they die. that doesn't seem like very many when 100,000 are published yearly in America!

  • cropperb, apply the "99% of everything is crap" rule. Here are some books the video recommends: Why Businessmen need Philosophy Aristotle's Ethics Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire George Orwell - 1984 Inventing a Nation Dante's Divine Comedy Fyodor Dostoevsky in 90 minutes The Objectivity of Math Crime and Punishment Shakespeare - The Tempest Ayn Rand - Fountainhead Alexandre Dumas - Count of Monte Cristo Sir Walter Scott - Ivanhoe
  • But my selections are not a random sample from the culture. My selections are much better than 1% meaningful. Thanks for listing the above, though! It makes it easier to get a quick sample of what I'm advocating.

  • And what if you died tomorrow? :) I think if you had a driving job then for sure, I'd go for audio, but other than that, I met someone who told me they also read Ulysses but in audio, I had to say thats good, but you haven't read it, big difference in discipline there than just hittin play, two different worlds entirely. Almost like saying I've read Godfather casue I watched the film? If someone has time to read but choses audio? mixing the two, hmmm, dunno, would want very good quality ones.

  • this guy gets mad pussy

  • ugh i fall asleep to books that are on tape lol

  • audio has helped me get through many of the tougher books such as the hobbit by tolkein (tolkien?) and emma by austen. its not like watching a movie- it's just reading aloud the actual literature. its perfectly valid! i listened while i read along. it helped me to better absorb the story. i highly recommend this! and i disagree with those who refute the practice! some people are auditory learners rather than visual learners. nothing wrong with that.

  • hey you can read 5 books a day read 5-10 chapters a day. multiply the ammount of books you read.

  • @AlyshaDeShae That's amazing! I've been reading for about 4 years, and I'm still under 100. I too, keep procrastinating. But I wish I could find more time as well. Could you give me some tips, as to reading speed and time conservation? I'm still a pretty slow reader :(

  • Heres an accomplishment. Read 100 books and don't tell anyone about it !

  • I'm 20, and I've read about 45 in my life so far. I feel good knowing that I've read as much as I have, but like yahags implied, quality's more important. If only I had more time for books.

  • Looks like you have a lot of illegal downloads of audio books:)!

  • @AlyshaDeShae (cont) of published books each year, it's not a lot, but it's a whole lot better than "six or eight thousand" in a lifetime because it doesn't take into account the books I've read in the past, only what I *will* read in the future. I watched the video hoping it would be something interesting, but instead you're just reading audio books and trying to make people feel guilty for not reading as much as you do when you barely read anything! Shame on you.

  • @AlyshaDeShae (cont) at least 250 a year if not more. This year I'm aiming for 348 and I'm keeping track of them with reviews on my website. Sadly, I keep procrastinating on writing the reviews, but I'm still keeping track of what I've read so far. Audio books are cheating, in my opinion. You're getting the story, sure, and they're entertaining, but I don't count it as reading. Assuming that I read 250 books a year for the next 40 years, I'm still at 10,000 books. Compared to the number (cont)
