Basics tools needed to make the job of seed collection more efficient. Stainers of various sizes, bowls and platters are must have items. Make sure your seeds are dry before storing. Esp. the moist veggies. You don't want to think you have good seed stock only to find out later there is mold on them. Cucumber & tomato must be fermented in a glass jar w/ a small amount of water. Shake twice a day for 3-4 days. Put in strainer & rinse clean. Dry on paper plate in mild temp and dim light. Once you are sure they are dry, label the envelope with type & date. I make special notes if something out of the ordinary happened during the growing or collection phase. While a few plants will provide many seeds collect from many. This will ensure genetic diversity & a good hardy crop. Take seeds from many of the best specimens. Corn should be collected from at least 200 plants. Eggplant 8-10. It is recommended that spinach needs a good male to female ratio for viable seeds. Learn what plants are self pollinating, what crosses.... Happy Growing! Adrienne Martino

  • Nice video and great information.

    Do you also sell seeds?

And do you have your own site?

    Thanks in advance

  • @LetsCook2gether Thank you. I trade seeds. If you PM me @ artnuwa11@yahoo I will give you the info. I may be setting up a seed site this year depending on how well the growing & collecting season goes for me. I pack way more per variety than any seed co. will send. You are welcome.

  • wonderful video...thank you! i have done very little seed saving... very interesting about the egg plant.... when you put your peppers back outside do you prune them back at all?

  • @skybirdbird Make sure you plant at least 8-10 eggplants for a good seed stock. I pruned them last year. I think it was a mistake. I am not going to do it this year, so we shall see. I had a small amount of fresh tomato and bells last year, producing indoors all winter. They only produced a little but it was better than nothing. I planted my herbs next to the house and most made it through the winter, perfectly. The parsley I sent you made it through all winter looking and tasting great!!!

  • @PeacefullQ yes, it is. It is also a psycho active that was used in ceremony. They are lovely flowering plants. They are also historically one of the largest cash crops on the planet. Good barter item. Thanks for the sub, coming by, commenting & asking good questions!

  • @artnuwa11 you should use glass jars with a bit of papper towel in it, plastic makes mold, never store your seeds in plastic, only in papper and glass jars

  • @artnuwa11 My pleasure!

  • @bigdad06 Thank you very much , sir. You are most welcome. Glad to be of service.
