Locations: North Shore, Oahu - Waimea Rivermouth
Big swell came through last night and seems to have already peaked by 8 a.m., but still the conditions were nice. Also I have some new action for you. The waimea river(correction.... the wailua river.) has swollen to the point of bust and with a little help from a few surfers and bodyboarders, the thin sand wall dividing the river mouth and the ocean would fall and the would be more fun to be found on a stationary wave created on the inbetween. You gotta see this.
Waves 12 to 3ft. Air temp: 81 degrees Winds at 10-15mph

so what happens? does a wall of rock or mud block up the river and then after a year or so people brake it open and then it makes this amazing phenomenom

@manxind its a combination of ocean waves pushing sand into the river mouth and the river tosses a few palms and branches into the mix to help build it up, but it is mostly sand that creates the temporary dam. It happens maybe once a month in the winter/spring time depending on the rain fall amounts.

truly, it depends on the amount of rainfall, any given year.
