With the permission of Jay Ungar (composer of Ashokan Farewell), Priscilla Herdman and lyricist Grian MacGregor, this slide show blends one of my favourite pieces of music with photos from the movie, "Cold Mountain" and images from the era of the Civil War.

  • Thank you for this. The artwork is haunting, so beautiful. This is one of my deepest treasures. Ms. Herdman, I am a singer, I love your voice so much. Raised my sons to Waltzing With Bears. This is so beautiful, you float like no other. Your voice is perfection and freedom all rolled into one. Thank you.

  • Beautiful performance of a lovely, lovely song. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hearing the Ashokan Farewell played by the Band of The Royal Marines on Classic FM introduced me to the great music of Jay Unger and then the wonderful voice of Priscilla Herdman. I am slowly collecting as many of her Cd's as I can.

I am saddened that Priscilla hasn't managed to include Ireland in her various tours but am still hoping that she might get to visit the land of some of her forefathers.

Priscilla you are a very talented lady. Your music gives me great pleasure, I thank you for it.

  • lovely luminous and strong. Thank you Priscilla.

  • One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard..

Her CD, Water Lilly is one of my favorite CDs, bar none.

  • I've loved Priscilla Herdman's singing since hearing her in a concert in 1981 in Buffalo, NY. Since then, I've followed her career from afar. Her voice has become richer, more beautiful and multifaceted with age. Thank you for this.

  • Lovely to have one more from Priscilla Herdman and Jay Ungar online.

  • Very well done. And the song, as sung by Ms. Herdman remains my favorite version of this piece.
