@Gowalum, I agree clinton used the incident to negociate a new inmigration agreement with Cuba. The Dry/Wet Feet rule meant that the inmigrants had to touch land to receive asilum. Blame another blunder in foreign olicy on Clinton in this tragic case. The fact the American media never really uncovered it as a olotical inmigration change case used by both Clinton & Castro is the most criminal art of it. Of course, was forced to rejoin the regime roaganda machine after his return.

This boy changed the world, really. Had he not come to the USA then Al Gore would have won Florida and thus the presidency in 2000. The race was so close in Florida that the votes Gore lost in the Cuban community because of this would have otherwise been Gore votes. Thus were it not for Elian, Saddam Hussein would still be in power as Gore would not have launched the Iraq war. Possibly, I don't know, the Mubarak Government would still be in power as Egypt wanted democracy, possibly, after Iraq.
