@NowhereMan1966 I'd ditch Coast to coast as a news source for NASA news then. The Orion craft is nearing its production model phase and alternative launch vehicles have been hammered out along with the spaceX contract and Delta IV options for manned certification.

@danschaoticmind - I try to follow them as much as I can. Hopefully somebody will fill this void NASA leaves. I was listening to Coast to Coast AM yesterday where NASA is all but dead now. B-( At least we have Space X, someone has to fill the vacuum.

@NowhereMan1966 Will you be watching the coverage of the SpaceX launch in a month then? They are going to be sending up one of their Dragon capsules for an unmanned docking with the space station. While not as exciting as a space shuttle launch (I've seen a few of them) it certainly is a remarkable note of progress as everything from launch to on orbit ops leading to docking (Where joint mission work will take place with MSC) are all private works. I'd rather have moon shots but... this will do.

@danschaoticmind - I saw this in 1999, I felt the same things you did. We need to be back in space again.

thats for sure chell...many videos are compilations of different launches pasted together...An editor might want a certain angle to start with and then change it at a certain point for dramatic effect, having all kinds of stock Saturn V lift off footage editors usually splice the scenes together they feel give best dramatic effect .
Of course some editors do less homework then others -there's an "Apollo 4" video on Youtube where they twice showed a Saturn 1B while describing the Saturn V
-
Some of the footage wasn't actually Apollo 8. The rocket: Saturn 500F was seen because it had a paint design, and it really was a test vehicle. Some of the footage was Apollo 11 as well, SquakCode.

this is great.

When I saw this, I counted down from one minute to zero.
This has been on YT for a long time yet only 6000 views. Yet faked videos get millions of views. I saw 17 lift off. that was no fake, the whole project was a triumph for 60s technology.

Indeed it was. Though can weblame the KSC for putting together the experiance with a combination of footage? While 100% accuracy would be nice for those of us who want that, I think the experiance of being at Ground control when it happened was recreated. The desks lighting up as each controller spoke gave me a feeling as if they were ghosts talking to us from the past. Then, when the windows began rattling behind us and the light changed, I wasn't in 2009. I was right there watching the launch.
