A nice, 12" open back Ome with a rolled brass tone ring--I needed a demo!

  • Hello, I'm a guitar player and I'm fairly new; is it possible to "transfer" music from a banjo over to guitar easily? Like could I play on a guitar teh same thing you did without there being some ramifcation needed? or is a banjo only 5 strings? Thanks!

  • @scottishartist1292 It's actually fairly difficult to transfer from banjo to guitar, owing to the former's drone (5th) string and the rhythmic devices used. The melody can, of course be carried over, but the playing style is entirely different, I fear.

  • this is my favourite song to play ever since I heard Peter Tork play it on his unique banjo. You got any like his by any chance I find it intriguing?

  • @rollmop7 We do have some long necks in the store right now. The extra 3 frets were associated with Pete Seeger, who had his banjo extended via a graft to facilitate his singing. After that, all us folk singers in the '60s _had_ to have one, and most makers offered them. Vega even made a "Pete Seeger" model. As I recall from the video, Tork had an Ode (or Muse--same maker and banjos, but for different markets). There are some of them around still, but they can be hard to find.

  • Very nice--new life in an oldie, and so musical. Is there tab for your variations anywhere?

  • @EricFlatpick I've tabbed out the sections you asked about--please send me an email address to where the tab can be sent.
