Lots of people laugh when we say the staffie is coming out with us ferreting. Staffordshires we think make great companions, lets see....

Good advice - will try steadying him with my mates ferrets first. Cheers!

I have a border terrier - absolutely electric on the rabbits (no regard for himself when he goes through brambles, comes out with ripped nose etc) but, I've never taken him ferreting. Now he is 4.5 yrs old, do you think he is he too old to get steady to ferrets?

@MrRjohartest - if a terrier isn't introduced to Ferrets from a young age is likely that they'd not gel well if out in the field - when the rabbit bolts - the ferret is usually right behind it & unless the dog is broken to them this could end in the death of the ferret....Having said that - it not unheard of for a dog (especially Borders) to be 'in tune' with the Ferret on 1st meeting - i'd suggest trying the dog & ferret from the same bowl of milk to see how it goes - if all OK - take them out!

useless, staff wrecks meat even though clean caught waste of good rabbit.
