  • do those things bite?????

  • @chevytech350 No, usually not. They have spiky legs though and can scratch quite badly, sometimes with infection. Some kind of wetas do bite, I believe.

However, when they are intimidated - they jump. Not so good when you are underneath about 400 of them.

  • yeah, Weta generally aren't aggressive at all, you'd have to squeeze one between your fingers to get it to bite, and who's gonna do that ?

  • i saw a vid where one of these things ate a camel spider.. I was hoping to get one and fed it to my tarantula, but I've changed my mind.... lol

  • oh my god that gross you must be very brave to let those things crawl on you id would be freaking out if one of those things were on me ive seen videos of those things killing other insects

  • thats increadible

  • These cave Wetas can get really huge, and jump a looong way.Just as well they don't bite.

When I was caving in Waitomo,to get into a cave called Urenui,we had to lie on our backs in a muddy stream with faces out of the water (to get the few inches of airspace) & we'd have dozen of these wetas jumping on our faces as we edged along.

They kind of tickled : )
