  • Really, really wonderful video! It brought back many memories... I'm originally from Santa Cruz, but as a young musician I spent many wonderful times in SF. Now, I am becoming acquainted with the mid Atlantic states.

I found you through Peter, the "geriatic" one....

  • I'm happy to have sparked good memories! I'll be over there to listen to more fiddlin', your music sure makes me smile!

  • Yep, you have definitely sparked a cascade of wonderful memories.... Thank you for the kind remarks about my fiddling. It is still very new to me, but I am having so much fun learning! I need to become familiar with our video cam... it is absolutely stunning here this morning and I would love to try and share some of that. Very crisp and well... cold.... 29 degrees... a breeze. Lolly pines and lots of tall, tall grass....

  • I get up early. It's currently 6am here - I was up at 3 this morning. :) Thanks for the info, as I said I ordered potato starts already! I'll check out the Almanac, thanks!

  • General Purpose compost. The compost isn't stick to the potatoes like in the garden! If you go to "The Old Farmers Almanac" which I joined, you will get lots of information on growing all sorts of things and when to sow etc. in the U.S.A.They also have lots of receipts for cooking etc. It's very Good. You must have spent a lot of time on your P.C. to return my message so soon. I certainly do recommend The Old Farmers. Denis.

  • I get this part. What is used in the garbage bags - potting soil or hay? One thing about growing in hay is you get clean potatoes, easy to find without disturbing tubers you don't want. I'm also interested in varieties I can "seed" myself later.

  • I don't whether you have "grow bags" in the U.S.A. but if you have you can grow up to three plants per bag. Potatoes are different. You buy seed potatoes there 3 different types (Early, late early and late) Early ones are best as we don't get new potatoes in the shops so early. You can use black refuse bags. Roll the sides down and make sure there are a few hole in the (Not big) for drainage. I'll complete this reply on another reply as I am running out of characters.Denis

  • Excellent video. It is so much fun seeing everyone's different perspective on the gathering! I see from the other comments, PDXvlog has already been identified!

  • We were actually sufficiently "outdoors" for me not to feel suffocated. However the seals were soothing, and I needed that because the cameras and crowd noise were pretty overwhelming.

  • Ah? Tell me about the tomatoes and potatoes - in bags? I've heard of growing potatoes in straw, I want to try that! Happy Spring to you!
