here in America it's 15 1/2 for your permit (or learners license), 16 for your drivers license, 18 to smoke, and 21 to drink

You actually don't have to be 18 to drive by yourself you can get your P's at 17 thats how it is in Queensland atleast. Also the whole drinking and smoking thing everyone who wants to do it does it before they're 18 anyway so not much difference. The only thing that really changes is you can move, go clubbing and go to casinos. I'm 18 and I honestly don't feel any different to when I was 16.
