lated shows Bird get up from his chair in front of Buddy Rich, walk over to where you see him sitting in this clip and watch Hawk intently and laugh at his attempt at playback. He almost has Hawk laughing too until someone off-camera makes Bird stop. Clearly they did the take over, but look at :25 and see how he still was having a laugh at Hawks expense and got it in the film.
