Brisbane band, this song is actually about the era of politics where corrupt politician and land developers got together and tore down a lot of our cultural heritage, most notably the Cloundland ballroom: my parents used to go dancing there, and my grandparents met there during the war. Ironic that the Go-Betweens have a bridge named after them, built by a lord mayor who now leads the same political party who's greed they lamented in this song.

there's a doco somewhere on youtube about the destruction of brisbane's heritage under joh bjelke-petersen. bob katter's on there, he compares the sound of a jackhammer drilling concrete to a slim dusty song. joh chose katter to be the minister for heritage. you couldn't write this stuff.

Guitar alert!Anybody know what the mystery hollow body black 3 pickup guitar Robert Forster is playing here?Looks German and has a letter "A" on the headstock....Amanda Brown has a German Hofner guitar here in this video that she played live on some songs.....the mystery black guitar is also later played by Grant in the video,"Here Comes A City"
