On August 8, 2009 the League 4 Public School Justice joined other local groups and the Free Speech Coalition & the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center for an action. In Nov 2007 the City of San Antonio passed an ordinance that would charge thousands of dollars for its citizens to march and demonstrate in its own streets. San Antonio is the only city, in the 10 largest cities in the US, to charge its people to march.
This is what happened when the action went from Main Plaza to the actual streets of San Antonio. The motorcycle cops kept trying to get demonstrators off the street and onto the sidewalk. They had no luck. They crowd continued up towards Plaza de Zacate.
