The video includes a brief flashback of my life in the music industry, similar to the way Otis was reflecting on his own life along San Francisco's Bay. The difference being that I moved from Massachusetts to California, Colorado and eventually to Brazil. The video footage therefore was shot in MA, CA, NV, CO and Brazil as I retrace my life's path and remember where I'd been and how I got to where I am now... The song, "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay", written by Otis Redding and Steve Cropper in 1968, appears on my "OLD SCHOOL - Hits of the 60s & 70s" CD with permission from Almo Music Corp Publishing and is copyright licensed through Harry Fox Agency, NY. The arrangement and performance of all vocals & instruments are mine, with the assistance of Chet McCracken, former drummer for The Doobie Brothers, America & Joe Walsh.

  • this is has got to be the best cover version ever and the video is cool. Where did you shoot the video Rick? 9/10

  • @TractorBoy50 ...

Thanks a bunch!! Most of the 'current' scenes are from coastal towns of Brazil, such as Recife, Buzios, Paraty, Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, etc... The actual scenes of me singing are from Paraty, which is a historic, "World Heritage Site" now. Really cool 17th century town with it's iconic pier. The 'flashback' scenes are all from the United States. At the time of filming, I was literally contemplating about 'how I got here from there' ... in true fashion of of the song's lyrics.

  • i like this video im in the 8 th grade and our teacher let us listen to this and its pretty good...he died 3 days after he recorded this song from an overdose..they dont know if it was accidental or purpose

  • Hi Brittney, I'm glad you like my rendition of Otis Redding's song.

Redding, his manager, the pilot, and four members of The Bar-Kays were killed when his Beechcraft 18 airplane crashed into Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin, on December 10, 1967. The cause of the airplane crash was never precisely determined.

Otis was survived by his wife, mother and father, his sons Dexter and Otis III and his daughter Karla.

  • Hey Rick did you go through Harry Fox to pay the mechanicals or directly to Ottis Redding estate? just curious, thanks in advance for the response.

    E.

  • Think it's real bad people now days can't make there own tracks, dnt get me wrong, ya done a well, but then again I can get my daughter to sing it jus as good. Either way my point is "they dnt make em like they use to" !! And that's a dam shame !!

  • This is the best version I ever heard. When you was singing on the beach i said to myself "who is that"? you looked so familiar and then I remembered, Saad Hariri of Lebanon. He is your double. Great music...thanks.I needed to learn the chords for this song and your version is so clear and distinct...perfect~!!

  • real life and deeply soothing
