Taken care of, that machine will still be able to crank out precision parts in your grandchildren's generation. It's good to see old equipment up and running!
Beautiful restoration! While I have always lusted for a fine Cone Head, I am the proud 3rd owner of a 14x30 1942 lathe bought by Scovill Company, a stone's throw from Torrington, and used to make drawing dies for 200 mm cannon shells during WWII.
Hendey was famous for crank shapers , but invented the Q-C for lathes. They were a great American icon equal to Monarch. Be sure to do the Hendey Factory Tour on lathes.uk.com.
Kind of a sad commentary on what this country was at one time.
