@PlanetoftheAtheists That's the beauty of Poe's Law; you don't have to say anything about reactionary fanatics to prove your point. Just let them dig their own graves with their crypto views and staggering lack of self-awareness.
Unfortunately, I don't see the Republican party tearing itself apart as a force any time soon. Recent events show they can get plenty of mileage out of mere obstruction.

@renumeratedfrog I agree somewhat. I think a better analogy is from Mark 3 where Jesus was angered by the Herodians and the Pharisees. The NEOCONS are Herodians dedicated to large corporations and the Pharisees are the self-righteous conservative religious. I do not like Blumenthals style of sarcasm and hyperbole but his research is solid and thorough.
I also agree with your staatement that they are social darwinism and I might add eugenics.

Very interesting, but I don't think it's entirely accurate to paint the Republican party as Christian extremists. If anything, they are rabid Randians who are prepared to sacrifice their religious beliefs in exchange for political benefits. The religion is just a front. Their true ideology is the cult of individualism and social darwinism.
