May 24th 2008. Hiking up to the summit of Mt. Ellinor in the Olympic Mountains of Washington State. Going up is slow, but coming back down via glissade is much faster!
If you plan to attempt this trip please be sure you are familiar with the use of an ice axe, possibly crampons, and know how to safely travel in steep snow conditions. Know how to self-arrest with your ice axe and do not glissade while wearing crampons. Just a week after this video was taken an accident in this chute sent three people to the hospital, two by helicopter. You can read about their trip and accident at the Washington Trails Association website, WTA.org
Great vid (although it wont play past 4:06 for me?) I did that about 5-6 years ago, great fun. it can be real fast & scary on the way down if you get there before it gets to slushy.

I did it today...holy crap that was a lot of fun...I think it is really entertaining to watch person after person come down as you go up. You don't happen to know how long the main chute is do you?

Hey! It was nice to be on youtube. We saw him coming down when we were climbing up, 2:30 right side and 5:38 in the right hand side
