What Shayler is doing here is putting up a false pretence about being the Messiah so that Mi6 don't bump him or his wife (Annie Machon) off. Both have revealed inside secrets of the murky world of espionage, and just because some of the things don't make sense to you or I, it doesn't mean there aren't people out there who cannot make use of this info. Whistle blowers their families are also bumped off to serve as an example to others. Some are humiliated eg Litvenyenko with high media coverage

@rubberritche... I'm sure you're referring to the messiah bit.. it would also include showing the kids in schools the unconditional love and awareness of what's happening in the world part as well
