The 2011 Western Illinois Volleyball Summer Camp completed its final day, Sunday (July 10), on the Macomb campus.
The camp started on Friday, July 8 and tenth-year head coach Kym McKay, along with several Western Illinois players, provided instruction at three different sessions.
The Purple Camp was for players ages 10-13 and the Gold Camp for players ages 14 & Up. Both camps focused on technique training and drills that covered the six basic skills of volleyball: passing, digging, attacking, setting, blocking and serving.
The Positional Camp was for campers ages 14 & Up and focused on specialized training for setters, hitters and liberos. Players were separated up into groups to break down position-specific techniques and the camp culminated with the three positions working together.
Campers took advantage of individual instruction made possible by a four-to-one camper to staff ratio.
