From what i can see the velocity of water in both cards while running in Parallel is hugely decreased to the extent it can't even clear the air bubbles out and that's the reason for the increased flow to the rest of the system - the liquid is following the path of least resistance and jumping the centre bridge on the cards, bypassing the actual cooling channel's and flowing straight back out so neither card is getting an adequate flow of liquid.
