This is the NEW Hauppauge Colossus PCI-x1 HD PVR. It was just released. I haven't seen any kind of unboxing or review for this product yet so I decided to do one. You can use this card in any PC with an available PCI x1 card slot. But be sure to check minimum requirements on the website first.

Records HD videos up to 1080i. This DOES include 720p. Also records in Digital Audio via the SPDIF (Optical) In/Out port.

Includes Hauppauge's WinTV v7 TV application for automatic recording of TV programs from cable or satellite set top boxes.

MSRP: $169.00

*Note that the HDMI only allows recording from UN-ENCRYPTED sources. Most Satellite TV receivers do not support un-encrypted HDMI. Which Is kinda the point of HDMI in the first place. But if you have an XBOX this should work just fine. I will definitely be testing it out anyways. I do not have an HDMI DVD / Blu-Ray player, so I cannot test that out, Sorry.

Any Questions, just ask! I'll do my best to respond.

  • Can someone Please confirm if Flash Media Encoder (FME) recognize the Hauppauge Colossus's input by itself without the need of using any other screen capturing programs. I would really appreciate if someone could this for me!

  • @Cajunomics It does. I've tried it before. But if you're looking into streaming, xSplit is world better than FME.

  • Will hdmi work with ps3

  • @totizedger I believe you will need to use component.

  • does this accept component cables? I want to record wii with component, and xbox with HDMI, so i was wondering if both are accepted at the same time

  • @Dedalwedal As a matter of fact, you can! Of course, you can only record one at a time. but yes, you can have both plugged in at the same time. You can choose which device to record. Component or HDMI.

  • Is there a DVR, like the Hauppauge gaming edition or whatever, that has HDMI input?I dont know all the right terms, but xbox with component cables, not so nice, when I use HDMI,same game, looks amazing, thats what I'd like to capture, thanks.:)

  • I'm planning to integrate the hd pvr into my pc but I'm hearing it will lag and also hearing you need some type of splitter to play the game in hd and record in hd ? Can anyone answer please .

  • @totizedger ps3 uses a encrpted hdcp hdmi so no. you have use the old ps2 cables to make it record. right now i figure out how to record pc games = D

  • Is this is MAC compatible? what software would you need?

  • can some1 help me pls i cant set the bitrate over 8mb. btw i recording ps3. PLEASE HELP ME :(

  • @WuLFie40 hey thanks for replying back. i got the colossus and it won't recognize in xsplit or flash media encoder. :( i don't understand!!! this stinks. it works in arcsoft and everything so it's not my inputs. i'm pretty sure i have the latest drivers. anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?

  • @WuLFie40 Ah thank you so much Wulfie40! I will definitely check into it and also subscribe to your channel. I am so upset with the black magic products right now. The intensity pro won't work on i7 cpu's :/ the intensity shuttle won't work on 1155 socket mobo's for i7, even if u have usb 3.0 onboard or via pci express.. and the newest intensity extreme is for macs only. just a heads up for anyone else looking to capture.. i think this is the way to go!

  • Ps3 hdmi doesnt work because of the encryption sigh but still this is better than hd pvr because of the high bitrate 20 mbps
