If somebody can remove this stupid exploding head, we've got classic music. It doesn't sound like rock & Roll, it's Swing at it's best !
-
why is that on repeat?! ugh!!!

Why ruin good music with such a grotesque image? Moronic.

In their book "What Was The First Rock & Roll Record", Jim Dawson & Steve Propes name Blues Pt2 as just that.
It was certainly an early fund raiser, being done to help the legal fees of Chicanos arrested in what became known as "The Zoot Suit Riots"

I have this album the players on it were: Shorty Sherock (trumpet) Illinois Jacquet
(Tenor Sax) Jack McVea (Tenor), Nat Cole (Piano), Les Paul (Guitar) Johnny Miller
Red Callender (base) Lee Young (lester's brother on drums) J.J. Johnson was also at this session, July 2, 1944

It looks so real too. Good work.

If I'm not mistaken, the '44 Jazz at the Phila featured Shorty Nadine ( AKA "King Cole" and also "the King Cole Trio") as he was known in those days. Capitol record labels didn't start using his first name 'till late forties or early fifties) and another guy by the name of Paul Leslie (who is of course Les Paul). Les's guitar sound was unique at that time 'cause few if any musicians were using a solid body low impedence guitar.
