Roy's smooth voice helped him have quite the career in the 1960's, and this Neil Diamond-penned tune was one of his latter-career hits, reaching #17 early in 1972. I was surprised it wasn't on here! Apparently most everyone is hungry for Roy, because I've been getting a lot of requests for his stuff.
this is a great cover.

Awesome classic song. I've always liked the Neil Diamond original and the UB40 remake, and now I like this one as well. =)

A great countrified version of Neil Diamond's song by Roy. I always thought that this made an ideal country song anyway by the nature of it's subject matter and melody. The reggae influenced group UB40 had a huge number one 1 in the UK with it in 1983 and it broke through into the US top 40 pop chart.

Yes, Roy was one of the good ones, with that easy/smooth voice. Great singer. Thanks for sharing this one from long ago. Enjoyed. Take care. Gwen
