Here is the VIA 65 from Montreal to Toronto on Saturday August 27th. We decided to do a bit of rail fanning outside of Ottawa and took the short trip to the Cardinal area to check out the CN main line. We decided to swing by and check out the Blair Rd. crossing first, only to miss half of a CN intermodal. Frustrated, we took some back roads and moved onto the old Cardinal station. This had been demolished years ago, but the straightaway provided some great shots. What helped was having two level crossings within 2kms on either side to give us a warning. Just as we pull up, we heard VIA 65 in the distance and I was able to jump out of the truck fast enough to shoot this quick vid. You'll notice at the start that we get a couple of welcome blasts. Despite being a frustrating day and missing out on the CN intermodal, this VIA made it worthwhile and hopefully we'll get a chance to check this spot out in the near future with better luck.

That's right. I expected around 6 myself, but the thats the fun of railfanning.
The spot is really nice and quiet with short straight stretches on either side of us. I probably got a bit too close for my camera, but then I never got a chance to set up really either. Certainly a fun experience!

That is a nice spot.
Was that two locomotives and four cars? Interesting.
