Liam Devally recorded a number of albums for different labels between the early 1950s and the mid-1970s, some as a solo artist, some with The Irish Festival Singers or The Young Lindsays. He also released a number of singles. This version of Munster Love Song is taken from a crackly 45rpm on the Glenside label, the recording branch of Walton's Music (of 'If you want to sing a song, sing an Irish song!' fame). Munster people won't mind too much that the photographs are all of Connemara.

Our wars were joyful and our songs were sad - few songs can squeeze a tear from
my old soul but this one can and his rendering is prefect,

Liam is my Uncle, the pictures of Connemara are quite relevant as he loves the area and has spent a lot of time there. Thanks for sharing.

I'm watching the funeral mass of Senator Ted Kennedy as I listen to this. Thank you for sharing this lovely recording and the photos. My Lagan Love is a song I also like to sing, so I will look for the Devally recording as you suggested. ~Alice
